Newmont reports lower gold, higher copper output from Batu Hijau

US-based Newmont Mining Corp reported that attributable gold production from its Batu Hijau mine in Sumbawa, West Nusa Tenggara Province, in the fourth quarter of last year declined to 6,000 ounces from 7,000 ounces in the corresponding period of 2012.

Full-year attributable gold production from the mine fell to 23,000 ounces from 33,000 ounces in 2012, the company said Thursday.

Attributable copper production in the fourth quarter of 2013 increased to 22 pounds from 16 pounds in the same period of the previous year. Attributable copper output for the full year slightly increased to 78 pounds from 76 pounds in 2012.
