Copper and gold miner PT Newmont Nusa Tenggara (PTNNT) has resumed concentrate ship loading activities following guidance received from the Directorate General of Minerals and Coal.

?PTNNT thanks the local, regional and central governments for their advice and assistance in ensuring that normal concentrate shipments lawfully resume at Batu Hijau,? PTNNT?s general manager operations David Lilley said in press release on Thursday.

PTNNT has confirmed that its concentrate shipment procedure complies with all relevant government regulations. Based on this confirmation, PTNNT was advised by the Directorate General of Minerals and Coal to continue concentrate loading and shipping activities.

On Jan. 13, 2011, PTNNT Management temporarily stopped ship loading at its Benete Port facility following a formal request from the West Sumbawa regency government and the arrival on site of a team of KSB security personnel. At all times, PTNNT said it had followed every applicable regulation, law and process outlined by the Directorate General of Minerals and Coal, based on PTNNT?s Contract of Work with the government.

?We hope that we can now go forward and continue operating in a safe, responsible and efficient manner, so that we can maximize the value and benefit that PTNNT generates for governments, communities, employees and all of our stakeholders,? said David Lilley. (godang/giok)
