Newmont Mining Corp projected Wednesday lower gold and copper production next year from its Batu Hijau mine on Sumbawa Island, West Nusa Tenggara Province, Indonesia, operated by subsidiary PT Newmont Nusa Tenggara (NNT).
The US-based mining company said that NNT consolidated gold production next year is projected at 525,000-575,000 oz, lower compared to the estimated 590,000-640,000 oz for this year.
Of the projected gold production for 2016, between 250,000-275,000 oz would be attributed to the US parent firm. Attributable gold output for this year is estimated at 270,000-290,000 oz.
Meanwhile, copper production is projected at 170,000-190,000 tons, of which attributable production is projected at 80,000-100,000 tons. Copper output this year is estimated at 200,000-220,000 tons, about 90,000-100,000 tons of which is attributable to the parent company.
