Newmont welcome verification team

Gold mining company Newmont Minahasa Raya which operates a gold mine in Minahasa regency, North Sulawesi welcome the idea of forming a verification team to examine the utilization of the C-class mining products - that is building materials and industrial minerals - by the company, Manado Post reported.

Newmont's government and community relations manager Tri Harjono said the idea of forming the verification team was a very good solution to the lingering dispute between the company and the Minahasa regency administration over taxes on the C-class mining products.

The regency has filed a suit against the company at the local court for its refusal to pay the taxes.

He said the company was ready to provide all information to the team.

The idea of forming the team came from Minister of Mines and Energy Susilo Bambang Yudohyono. (*)
