Nexen? s exploration unsuccessful in 2001

Canadian oil firm Nexen Inc said on Monday that its exploration drilling in Seram Offshore production sharing contract in Maluku was unsuccessful.
The company said that the only exploration well drilled in 2001, Kayu Manis-1, failed to discover oil in November 2001.
The company said following the failure, it would evaluate the remaining potential of the Offshore Seram Block. However, the company did not say whether or not it would drill another exploration well next year.
Nexen Inc. holds 100 percent working interest in Seram Offshore block. (alex)
