The Nias 8 MW coal gasification power plant on the Nias Island, North Sumatra, will require coal supply of 27,000 tons per year.
The contractor to develop the project and the coal supplier have yet to be determined, said Head of Coal Division at state-owned electricity firm PT. Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN), Helmi Najamuddin to Petromindo.com Monday.
Helmi said that PLN was hoping that the coal gasification power plant could start producing electricity in 2016 to meet demand in Nias.
