Nias power plant resumes normal operations after maintenance

PT PLN (Persero) said maintenance work at the Nias Mobile Power Plant gas facility (PLTG MPP Nias), North Sumatra, has been completed, with the power plant resuming normal operations to support electricity supply across the Nias islands.
Maintenance activities at the PLTG MPP Nias facility were carried out from May 8 to May 11, 2026.
The generating unit was resynchronized with the electricity system on May 11 at 12:00 p.m. local time, followed by operational testing to ensure stable performance.

PLN said the plant is now operating normally and continues to support electricity demand in the Nias region without disruption.
PLTG MPP Nias, located in Gunungsitoli, currently has installed capacity of 25 megawatts and is undergoing phased expansion to 35 MW, with further development planned to reach 59 MW through a gasification project.
