Nickel, tin exports up in December, copper down

The export value of nickel in December rose by 17.58 percent to US$66.71 million compared to the value in November, while the export volume jumped by 21.50 percent to 7.73 million Kg month-on-month, according to data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) released on Monday.

The jump in nickel export came as the government was slated to impose a ban on mineral ores export starting January 12, 2014.

Meanwhile, copper export declined by11.49 percent to $128.48 million as the export volume decreased by 10.65 percent to 18.71 million Kg, BPS said.

The export of tin in December surged by 155.12 percent to $319.53 million as export volume also jumped by 155.49 percent to 13.83 million Kg.
