ASX-listed Nido Petroleum Limited said Thursday it has been informed by the operator of the Gurita PSC in Natuna Sea, Lundin Gurita BV, that the rig for the planned drilling of the Gobi-1 well will be available in September of this year.
?On the basis of operator?s advice, the company now expects to spud the well in late September 2014,? Nido said in a statement.
Nido currently has a 10 percent working interest in the Gurita PSC. Swedish firm Lundin Petroleum AB, through its wholly owned subsidiary Lundin Gurita BV, is the operator and has a 90 percent working interest in the block.
The company said in May that it hoped the Gobi-1 well within the Gurita PSC to be drilled in the fourth quarter of this year. The Hakuryu 11 rig will be deployed in the drilling program.
The operator?s 3D seismic mapping has identified a large portfolio of prospects and leads from which the Gobi prospect has been high-graded for drilling. The Gobi-1 exploration well will test the oil potential of multiple reservoir objectives within the Lower Arang , Udang, Gabus and Belut formations located within a 3D defined structural closure. Prospective resource potential is estimated by Nido at 24 mmbbls (best case, gross, unrisked).
