Niko opens tender for 3D survey services

Niko Resources (West Papua IV) Ltd, a subsidiary of Niko Resources Ltd, announced tender on Tuesday for 3D offshore seismic survey services over the West Papua IV and Aru blocks in West Papua.

The company said in a tender announcement that the survey area is a deep water area with unknown obstructions or shoals. The approximate surface coverage of the survey is 3,220 km2, it added.

The intention is to start the survey in early second-half of 2015, Niko said.

The West Papua IV block is located in the offshore West Papua and covers an area of approximately 6,314.30 sq km with water depths ranging from 50 to 2,000 meters.

The block was awarded to a consortium of Niko Resources Ltd and Black Gold Energy LLC on September 11, 2009. Niko is the operator with an 80 percent interest, while Black Gols holds the balance.

The Aru block is located West Papua province and covers a total area of 8,054.45 sq km. The block was awarded to a consortium of Niko Resources and Statoil on July 20, 2012.
