Nine coal mining companies holding the so-called coal contracts of work (PKP2B) are finally ready to sign new amended contracts as they finally have agreed on the last difficult point of export tax proposed by the government.

Director General of Mineral and Coal at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources Bambang Gatot Ariyono said in a statement last week that the miners are expected to sign the amended contracts later this month.

He said that the nine coal miners included PT Indominco Mandiri, PT Antang Gunung Meratus, PT Bahari Cakrawala Sebuku, PT Borneo Indobara, PT Gunung Bayan Pratama Coal, PT Jorong Barutama Greston, PT Kartika Selabumi Mining, PT Mandiri Intiperkasa, and PT Trubaindo Coal Mining.

While nine PKP2B coal miners are set to sign the new amended contracts, 64 other PKP2B coal miners are still in the process of finalizing the contract amendment, of which 52 have signed an MoU with the government, while 12 others are still in renegotiation process.
