As many as 9 people have been found dead and 4 others still missing after landslides at a traditional goldmine in Paniai Regency of Papua Province.
The landslide at Kampung Damai III of Bogobaida District occurred at 11 AM local time on Wednesday, Sutopo Purwo Nugroho, spokesman of the National Disaster Management and Mitigation Agency told Petromindo.com in a text message on Friday.
Heavy downpours caused the landslide hitting a house and miners who were resting after conducting mining activities, he said.
He added that the search for the missing victims was still ongoing.
