NKE, PLN sign PPA for W. Sumatra mini hydropower project

IDX-listed engineering company PT Nusa Konstruksi Enjiniring Tbk (NKE) said it has recently signed power purchase agreement (PPA) with state-owned electricity firm PT PLN for a 6 MW mini hydro power plant (PLTM) project in Tongar, Pasaman Barat Regency, West Sumatra Province.
NKE Corporate Secretary Djohan Halim said in a statement Thursday that the PPA was signed on August 3.
Djohan said that the power plant project will be developed by the company?s subsidiary PT Inti Duta Energy (IDE), and is targeted to start operation in 2021. He did not provide further details about the planned project.
Djohan said that IDE also plans other mini hydro power plant projects in six locations with combined capacity of 40 MW. He did not disclose the locations. The company has proposed to PLN the PPAs for three of the six projects, and expected two can be signed by end of this year.
?We expect the two other projects can have their PPAs signed by end of this year so that the total capacity of PLTMs that we could immediately start construction will reach 18 MW,? he said.
