No drilling activity at Pase block: BPMIGAS

Upstream authority BPMIGAS said that there is no drilling activity at the Pase block in East Aceh at the moment amid the current lingering uncertainty over who will operate the block.
?Due to the uncertainty, there?s no drilling activity. The current activity is focused on maintaining the current production rate of about 1-2 mmscfd,? said Deputy for Planning at BPMIGAS, Widiyawan Prawiraatmadja to Petromnido.com Monday.
Perth-based firm Triangle Energy?s contract over the Pase block expired in February. But as the authority has yet to decide on who will become the new operator of the block, the current contract has been temporarily extended.
Meanwhile, Triangle said on Thursday that it plans to drill at least one well next year within the block.
The Pase PSC covers an area of 922sqkm in Aceh and was first granted in 1981. It has been operated by Triangle Energy through its wholly owned subsidiary Triangle Pase Inc (TPI) since June 2009. Triangle Energy lodged an application to renew the PSC in February 2010.
