Upstream oil and gas authority BPMIGAS Monday denied reports that an employee of an oil and gas production sharing contractor in East Kalimantan had suffered from Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS).
?We have sought confirmation on the reports, and have found that no oil worker had been affected by SARS virus,? BPMIGAS? spokesman L. Harijanto told Petromindo.Com.
East Kalimantan-based daily Balikpapan Post reported Saturday that doctors from a Balikpapan hospital were examining a sick oil worker to determine whether he had suffered from SARS. The patient, a Balikpapan resident and an employee of an oil company in East Kalimantan, had been taken to the hospital after traveling to Malaysia. (Godang)
