The authority of Seribu islands, a sea tourist resort in northern part of Jakarta, complained over the slow process of the legal action against an oil company allegedly involved in the pollution of the tourist area, Koran Tempo reported on Friday.

?Oil spills may take place again in the future due to the slow process of the legal action against the oil company alleged involved in the pollution,? Regent Abdul Kadir said. He added that his office had reported the case to BP Migas, the oil and gas authority, but no meaningful action had been made.

An oil spill had caused a serious pollution in the tourist resort in March, this year. This was the second time since a similar oil spill hit the area in the same month, last year.

?I am quite sure that China National Oil Offshore Corporation (CNOOC) was involved in the pollution but we don?t have any proof to take the company to the court,? he added.

Abdul Kadir said that the office of the state minister for environment had carried out an investigation into the case. But the office said that the finger printer did not indicate the involvement of CNOOC.

Besides being used for oil tanker traffics, the tourist resort is located near an offshore oil operation. (*)
