No shortage of Pertamax: Pertamina

Tuesday, December 14 2004 - 01:45 AM WIB

State oil and gas company PT Pertamina denied that its customers have difficulties in obtaining Pertamax and Pertamax-Plus at several gas stations in Jakarta as the result of supply shortages, as the problem may have been caused by a change in distribution of the two superior fuel oils starting several days ago, the Antara reported on Monday.

"There was no problem in the stock of Pertamax and Pertamax-Plus. The problem may have been the result of a change in distribution a couple of days ago," chief spokesman for the company, Awi Adil, said in Jakarta over the weekend.

He said the distribution of Pertamax and Pertamax-Plus to the different gas filling stations had been taken over by Pertamina from the Association of Fuel Oil Marketing and Production (P3B) on December 1, 2004, but effective as of December 7, 2004.

Thus, he added, the current unfavorable situation was only temporary, and normal distribution of the two superior fuel products would be restored in the next couple of days.

P3B has nine members including Elnusa. (*)
