No ?sleeping working area? at PHE

PT Pertamina Hulu Energi (PHE) said that none of its oil and gas working areas is classified as ?sleeping working area? as all are being actively managed.
?There?s no more sleeping working area because all are actively being managed. The last one has been put under joint operation scheme (or KSO). Even though there are still KSOs that are not yet running optimally, it?s usually because the partners are facing funding difficulties,? PHE President Director Salis Aprilian told Petromindo.com Tuesday.
Salis explained that PHE has been quite active in implementing exploration works (seismic survey and drilling) to ?comb? areas which have yet to be developed. In addition, EOR (enhanced oil recovery) program being carried out at mature fields is expected to help increase both production and reserves.
PT Pertamina EP earlier told Petromindo.com that the company was planning to return back to the government a number of its oil and gas working areas with combined acreage of about 25,000 km2 as they?re either considered to be operationally not possible for development or have high geological risk.
Meanwhile, the move by Pertmina EP to return its working areas considered difficult or impossible to be developed is quite appropriate and is in line with the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Regulation No 6/2010, Vice Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Rudi Rubiandini said.
In fact, it is the obligation of the company to relinquish idle oil and gas wells which have not been developed, or put them forward for cooperation with other parties in line with the minister regulation, he added.
