No workers dismissal annulment by S. Jakarta court: Thiess

PT Thiess Contractor Indonesia (TCI), a contractor of East Kalimantan-based coal mining firm PT Kideco Jaya Agung, has denied reports that the South Jakarta district court had issued an injunction to annul the dismissal of TCI?s workers, East Kalimantan-based Kaltim Post daily reported on Friday.
TCI?s human resources development manager Bachtiar Said said on Thursday the South Jakarta district court had summoned his company only on Wednesday in connection with the court?s preparations to process the indictment handed down to it by TCI?s workers.
Bachtiar?s remarks contradicted Kaltim Post?s May 12 reports that the South Jakarta district court had issued an injunction in favor of TCI?s workers, according to Bachtiar.
TCI dismissed 171 workers last year after they went on strike to press the firm to increase their salaries for extra working hours. (*)
