Noble eyeing stake at Berau

Hong Kong-based global commodity trader Noble Group is eyeing to acquire up to 20 percent stake at IDX-listed coal mining firm PT Berau Coal Energy Tbk, Investor Daily reported on Thursday, quoting Berau President Director Rosan P. Roeslani.

The report said that Noble may spend US$400 million on the acquisition.

Another global trader Glencore AG is also interested to buy the company?s 20 percent stake, he said.

Berau Coal Energy controls 90 percent stake of East Kalimantan coal mining firm PT Berau Coal, which plans to produce 20 million tonnes of coal in 2011. (*)
