Noble?s unit to double coal production next year

East Kalimantan coal miner PT Moriss, a coal unit of Hong-Kong based commodity trader Noble Group is expecting to double its coal output to 1.5 million tonnes next year, from this year?s target of 675,000 tonnes.
The parent company?s executive director Neil Dhar said that Noble has started operations in Moriss mine area in 2008, since then it expanded into 2 blocks ? North production at more than 500,000 tonnes per year and South Block will ramp it up in 2012.
The coal is selling with best prices to premium markets such as Japan, he said, without giving the detail figure of the price.
Last year, PT Moriss produced 594,000 tonnes of coal. (denny)
