The government?s non-tax revenue from the mining sector in the period of January-May of this year has exceeded Rp 13 trillion, or about 40 percent of the full-year target of Rp 32.4 trillion.

Director of Coal and Mineral Revenue at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, Jonson Pakpahan was quoted by Bisnis Indonesia as saying Tuesday that revenue from the coal mining sector accounted for 80 percent of the total non-tax revenue.

He said that the solid revenue performance was mainly attributed to the recovery in the price of coal. He said that if coal price can continue to stabilize at around $80 per ton, the full-year target of non-tax revenue from the mining sector can be achieved.

Jonson said that the government will also intensify efforts to push miners to pay their financial obligations to the state such as royalty as the unpaid financial obligations from past years has now reached Rp 4.9 trillion. (*)
