The realized non-tax revenues from the coal and mineral sector in the first quarter of 2019 reached Rp11.6 trillion, representing 26.85% from the 2019 State Budget target of Rp43.2 trillion.
Director for Coal and Mineral Revenues at the Energy and Mineral Resources (MEMR) Johnson Pakpahan said that the non-tax revenues from this sector remains in line with plan although the reference price of coal was slightly lower in the first quarter.
Johnson said in order to attain the annual target, the ministry has set a monthly revenues from coal and mineral at Rp3.3-Rp3.7 trillion.
“It was still stable if we look at the average (monthly) revenues in the past three month. I am still confident, except if there will be drastic fall of (coal) price,” Johnson told Kontan.co.id at his office on Friday (05/04).
Johnson admits that the target non-tax revenues from coal and minerals this year is influenced by the coal price and rupiah exchange rate against the US dollar as well as the coal production.
The coal sector, said Johnson, contributed 80% to the country’s non-tax income from the coal and mineral sector. Therefore, he hopes that the coal price would not fall further, otherwise it may influence the non-tax revenues form this sector, in particular after mineral productions from Freeport appears to be lower this year.
The government assumes the reference coal price is set at US$80 per ton and rupiah exchange rate at Rp15,000 against the US dollar.
In April, the coal reference price was set at US$88.85 per ton, fell from US$90 per ton in March, or declined by 1.89%. (*)
