North Barito nominated for 10 Best Investment Sites

North Barito, one of natural resources rich regencies in Central Kalimantan, has nominated to become one of the 10 Best Investment Sites in Indonesia thanks to the local government?s serious efforts to improve the investment climate in the regency, Banjarmasin Post reported on Tuesday.

The head of the local investment office, Godlin, said that the nomination reflected the success of the regency in improving the investment climate during the past several years.

?The licensing process for new investment has been simplified, the security and order are stable. The people are also aware that investors should be encouraged to support the local economy, Godlin said about the investment climate in the regency, better called as Barut, the abbreviation of Barito Utara or North Barito.

A number of coal mining companies are currently exploring coal in the regency, including PT Suryabara Andalas Tambang (29,725 ha), PT Harfa Taruna Mandiri (47,048 ha), PT Barito Putra (3,176 ha), Manasai Sumber Makmur Cooperative (5,000 ha), PT Batubara Duaribu Abadi (5,458 ha), PT Anugrah Mulya (43,900 ha), PT Barito Ekatama (22,000 ha), PT Suprabari Mapanindo Mineral (97,240 ha) and PT Multi Tambang Utama (12,450 ha).
