North Kayong plans bamboo power plant

The North Kayong Regency administration in West Kalimantan plans to develop a biomass-based power plant using bamboo as feedstock, a local report said Wednesday.

Tribun Pontianak quoted North Kayong Sy Muzahar as saying that the planned power plant will have a capacity of 10 MW.

He added that North Kayong has depended on power supply from the neighboring Ketapang regency. He said that it?s high time for North Kayong to have its own power supply to help accelerate economic growth. No further details were provided about the planned project. (*)
