Kamaruddin Harahap, the chairman of the Commission VII of North Sumatera Legislative Council, said in Medan on Friday that the North Sumatra provincial administration is deserved to get part of the oil production from the Hulu Rantau because almost 85 percent of the oil field?s areas are under the province?s authority.
?It is unfair if Pertamina only shares the oil production to Aceh, while North Sumatra which owns most of the oil field?s assets gets nothing,? he said.
Under the autonomy law, the provincial administration receives 15 percent of the central government?s share from oil production in the province.
Harahap said that a special team representing the North Sumatera provincial administartion would soon meet Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, Minister of Finance and the president of state owned oil company Pertamina to demand the fair share from the oil production from the Rantau Kuala field.
