North Sumatra needs strong investors to develop mining potential

The North Sumatra province needs strong investors both cash and technology to develop the province's mining potential, head of the provincial office of the ministry of mineral resources and energy Amir Faisal Suud.
Amir was quoted as saying by the Neraca daily that based on the preliminary survey, North Sumatra has some 53 type of mineral resources.
Amir said that until now there were five mining contracts issued in North Sumatra for the exploration of gold, copper, silver and tin.
Speaking in a meeting with the provincial House of Representatives commission IV on mining, Amir said that the mining potential stretches from Natal regency, to South Tapanuli, Central Tapanuli, North Tapanuli, Dairi and Karo.
He added that there were two mining contracts issued for the pre-exploration stages.
Amir said that based on preliminary survey, North Sumatra was indicated to have 53 types of mineral resources.
