Hoegh LNG of Norway confirmed that it has been selected as preferred bidder for the procurement of a floating storage and re-gasification unit (FSRU) vessel for Belawan FSRU project, a company official said.
?Our understanding is that we have been named as preferred bidder for the Belawan FSRU,? Ragnar Wisloff, Managing Director of Singapore-based Hoegh LNG Asia Pte Ltd, a subsidiary of Hoegh LNG told Petromindo.com.
The Belawan FSRU with an estimated investment of US$200 million is the second FSRU to be developed in Indonesia.
The first FSRU is the West Java FSRU which is being developed by PT Nusantara Regas, a joint venture between PT Pertamina and PT Perusahaan Gas Negara (PGN). The FSRU vessel development project has been awarded to Golar Energy of Norway. It will be located in Jakarta bay and is scheduled to begin operation early next year.
Blake Blackwell, Senior Vice President and Business Development Golar Energy Management Ltd, told Petromindo.com on the sideline of Indonesia-Norway LNG seminar that the FSRU for West Java is being constructed at Singapore?s Jurong Shipyard.
"The project is on schedule. It is progressing well. We hope to conduct testing of the FSRU in January next year,? Blackwell said.
The government will also build the third FSRU to be located at offshore Central Jawa, to the north of Semarang city.
Industry sources said Golar LNG Energy is among the bidders for the procurement of the Semarang FSRU. The preferred bidder is expected to be announced later this year. Assuming the tender process goes ahead as scheduled, the construction of FSRU vessel is expected to be completed in second quarter of 2013. (roffie)
