Australian oil and gas firm Novus Petroleum Limited said development program is underway in Wunut gas field in Brantas PSC, East Java.
The first well, Wunut-9 that was spudded in September 25, had intersected thicker gas sands than had been anticipated and is planned to be completed for production, said Novus.
Wunut currently has production capacity of a little over 20 million standard cubic feet per day (MMCFD) and after completion of new producing wells, Novus hoped to be able to double production.
Novus said negotiations with buyers are advanced.
Novus has 50 percent working interest in Brantas PSC. Local oil and gas firm Lapindo Brantas holds the remaining 50 percent interest and operatorship of the block. (alex)
