NR says no LNG import required as supply comes from Bontang, Tangguh

The Jakarta Bay Floating Storage and Regasification Unit (FSRU) will not require any LNG import next year to meet gas demand of PT. Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN) as it has obtained LNG supply from the Bontang plant in East Kalimantan and Tangguh plant in Papua.

?Right now we don?t need LNG import. Nusantara Regas (the operator of the FSRU) obtains (LNG) supplies from Bontang of about 20-23 cargoes, while from Tangguh, (state-owned electricity firm) PLN has obtained supply commitment of 10-12 cargoes,? President Director of PT Nusantara Regas (NR), Tammy Meidharma told Petromindo.com Tuesday.

?But not the entire (LNG cargoes) will go to NR because probably part of it will go to the Arun regasification plant. The exact (LNG volume) from Tangguh will depend on the gas requirement of PLN in 2014, which will be determined at the end of this month,? he added.

The LNG will undergo regasification process at the FSRU, and the gas will be distributed to PLN Tanjung Priok and Muara Karang power plants.

Meanwhile, PLN Head of Gas and Fuel Division Suryadi Mardjuki said that the PLN expected to be allocated 22 cargoes of LNG from the Bontang plant via the Jakarta FSRU next year, and another 4 cargoes of LNG from Tangguh.
