NTC appoints new main contractor to boost coal output

Jambi coal miner PT Nusantara Termal Coal (NTC) has appointed PT Satria Bahana Sarana (SBS) as its main contractor for next few years until Dec 2016 in a bid to boost coal output, an industry source told Petromindo.Com. Satria replaces PT Hareda Prima Jaya.

NTC is targeting to produce around 2.5 million tons per annum in the next few years from current production level of 1 million tons per year, the source said.

Aside from SBS, NTC has also engaged two other local contractors PT Hidup Baruna dan PT Muara Kenalu Prima Megah. Coal production from SBS will be destined to export market, while output from the two other contractors for the local market.

The company sold most of its coal to domestic users including cement maker PT Semen Padang, Ombilin power plant and pulp and paper maker PT Indah Kiat Perawang.

NTC?s total JORC reserves reached 29.3 million tons of coal. Of the total 29.3 million tons, proved and probable reserves are 26.1 and 3.1 million tons, respectively. Calorific value from the mine block is 5400-5,500 kcal/kg (GAR) with total sulhpur of 0.6%.
