Jambi coal miner PT Nusantara Thermal Coal (NTC) said it has re-started production with this year?s production target of 1.1 million tonnes.

President Director Limas Madya Nusantara told Petromindo.Com on Wednesday that NTC will increase production to 1.5 MT next year.

Limas said the company is in the process of revising the mine?s feasibility study and environmental impact assessment as ordered by the government. ?Hopefully with FS improvement, production can be increased further to 2 MT in 2010,? he said.

NTC sells most of its coal production to domestic customers such as cement maker PT Semen Padang, pulp and paper firms PT Indah Kiat Pulp & Paper and Riau Andalan Pulp & Paper.

Government ordered NTC last year to stop operations for poor mining practices and failure to repair environmental damages.

According to Petromindo.Com data, NTC holds a 30-year concession over the mine under a Coal Contract of Work with the Indonesian Government. The Muara Bungo Concession, which covers an area of 28.6 km2, has JORC Code compliant proved ore reserves of 22.9 million tons and probable ore reserves of 1.1 million tons, as well as measured resources of 31.7 million tons and indicated resources of 5.2 million tons.
