NuEnergy reports higher gas content in Muara Enim

Australia-listed firm NuEnergy Gas Limited (NuEnergy) said that the results of laboratory testing conducted by GeoGas on coal cores from Well #2 at its Muara Enim PSC in South Sumatra have confirmed higher gas content.
The company said in a press statement on Friday that the laboratory testing results at Muara Enim showed that gas content in Suban coal seam was 92 to 141 scf/t (daf), in Mangus coal seam was 85 to 138 scf/t (daf), while gas composition was 98 percent to 99 percent CH4+ in Suban coal seam, and 98 to 99 percent CH4+ in Mangus coal seam.
Gas in Coal Content of up to 141 standard cubic feet per ton of coal infers a reasonable gas content level with which to support the planned development of a pilot production well at the Muara Enim site. Construction of surface dewatering and gas separation facilities is currently underway.
Methane content from gas produced from core samples from Well # 2 tested at between 98 percent and 99 percent. This confirms the high purity of the gas found in the Muara Enim PSC coal seams and after extraction the gas is saleable needing minimal conditioning, significantly improving the economics of production. The confirmed coal seam thickness of between 19 and 24 meters (43 meters in total) combined with high gas content are positive indicators for ultimate resource development economics.
Additional testing to determine permeability and gas/water content and quality of the Suban and Mangus coal seams will commence shortly. Immediately following the case hole permeability testing of the coal seams, dewatering at the pilot well #2 is scheduled to commence in September 2012, with the target result for NuEnergy to develop this site into the first operational and commercial pilot development in South Sumatra.
NuEnergy holds a 40 percent interest and is operator of Muara Enim PSC through its subsidiary company PT Trisula CBM Energi.
