Nusantara Berau starts coal production

East Kalimantan coal miner PT Nusantara Berau Coal has started production at its Berau mine in February this year, the company?s official told Petromindo.Com last week.

The official said that the company plans to produce around 1.5 million tonnes of coal during 2011 and will ramp up the output to 3 million tonnes and 5 million tonnes in 2012 and 2013, respectively.

The calorific value of the coal is 5,400 kcal/kg (ADB) with low sulhpur, the official said, adding that the company?s run of mine (ROM) to jetty port, which located in Segah river just around 20 kilometer.

The jetty port can be entered by barge with a size of 270 feet.

The company has several other coal mines, all located in East Kalimatan and still in exploration stage, the official said without giving further details. (denny)
