Coal miner PT Nusantara Berau Coal expects to increase production from its concession in Berau, East Kalimantan, to one million tons this year, from 600,000 tons in 2011.

The company's corporate secretary Liberty Simanjuntak said the company has so far this year produced 200,000 tons only due to heavy rainfalls.

"But, we expect to meet the target of one million ton by the end of 2012," Liberty told petromindo.com on Monday.

The company, which commenced production last year, produces coal with a calorific value of 5,000 kcal/kg.
