PT Nusantara Energy Plant Indonesia (NEPI) is set to start running gasoline stations (SPBU) in the second quarter of this year, marking the firm's entry into the country's fuel retail business, Kontan reported on Friday.

Junaidi Elvis, President Director of NEPI, said that the company will initially build eight gasoline stations in Jakarta and Bandung, with estimated investment of Rp 20 billion each.

Junaidi said the SPBU will have a brandname of VIVO, at the request of its parent Singapore-based Vitol Asia Pte Ltd, which operates 5,000 gasoline stations around the world.

NEPI has set up a subsidiary PT Vivo Energi SPBU Indonesia to operate the local gasoline stations.

The paper said NEPI also plans to acquire SPBUs which have stopped operation.

NEPI currently has five fuel storage tanks, two for automotive diesel and three for RON 92 and RON 95 gasoline.(*)
