Nusantara Regas to commission LNG floating terminal in Dec.

NR was a joint venture established by state owned companies PT Perusahaan Gas Negara (PGN) and PT Pertamina to build the LNG floating terminal.
Ari Adji, technical & operation director of NR, said that the development of the project was kicked off on Jan. 25 and was expected to take 12 months to finish.
Commissioning of the facility will be conducted in December this year, while maiden operation is scheduled for mid-January 2012. The first gas will be delivered to Muara Karang power plant in North Jakarta.
?The FSRU will have a capacity of 3 MTPA, a half of it will be supplied by the Bontang LNG plant (in East Kalimantan) 10 years.
"We are still looking for suppliers of the remaining gas needed with the help of traders or importers. There are several companies that have signed confidentiality agreement with the traders,? he said without elaborating.
He said the firm will convert vessel named Khannur, leased from Golar Energy, into the FSRU for the LNG terminal. The vessel is on its way from Norway to Singapore for re-building.
NR signed the contract with Bermuda-based Golar in October 2010 to provide the FSRU for the LNG terminal.
The contract, which is still subject to final terms and conditions, will be for an initial period of approximately 11 years and comprises the lease of a FSRU and associated mooring. Golar Energy will convert one of its existing Moss LNG carriers to an FSRU for the project. The contract value will be approximately $500 million.
The gas will be supplied to the Muara Karang and Tanjung Priok power plants in Jakarta owned by state owned electricity firm PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara.
Ari said the gas demand of both power plants would reach 530 MMSCFD in 2012-2015, but only 230 MMSCFD is now available. ?There is a possibility for Bontang LNG to supply more than 1.5 MTPA. We are negotiating this with BPMIGAS,? he said. (giok/bernard)
