Oil and gas topic ruled out of trilateral talks this week

East Timor's Council of Ministers has decided the topic of oil and gas exploration in the Timor Sea north of Darwin will not be on the agenda of trilateral talks on the Indonesian island of Bali this week, ABC News reported Monday.

Ministers and officials from East Timor, Australia and Indonesia will meet on Tuesday.

The United Nations administration in East Timor says they will discuss security, cross-border crime, the management of borders, the repatriation of refugees and economic cooperation and assistance.

Control of the oil and gas resources of the Timor Gap were formerly shared by Australia and Indonesia, and will soon be shared instead by East Timor and Australia.(*)
