Oil and gas upstream regulator BPMIGAS will oblige all oil production sharing contractors to use enhanced oil recovery (EOR)technology in their production activities in order to help increase the country?s oil production.

BPMIGAS? vice chairman Hardiono said in Bandung on Thursday that a number of major oil contractors had strongly supported the program and had formally proposed to use such technology in their respective oil fields.

He said that Chevron Pacific Indonesia had for example proposed to use the EOR technology at its Minas field while Medco wanted to utilize it at its Kaji-Semoga field and Pertamina E&P at Limau field.

In additions, Pertamina EP and Joint Operation Body-Bumi Siak Pusako were also testing the use of the EOR in their respective fields, Tanjung and Zamrud, Hardiono said.

?BPMIGAS is waiting the commitment of other contractors to use the EOR technology,? he said in his address at the opening of a workshop on the use of the EOR technology. (giok)
