Upstream authority SKK Migas, said that a 5.5 earthquake in Banten at about 2 a.m. Tuesday has not affected oil and gas operations in the region.

?God willing, there?s no impact, because it (the earthquake) has always occurred in the southern part of the island, while the oil and gas fields are in the northern side. All operational activities of production sharing contracts are safe,? Rudi told Petromindo.com Tuesday.

The oil and gas operations in the Banten region include those operated by CNOOC and PT Pertamina Hulu Energi Offshore North West Java (PHE ONWJ).
