Oil, gas sector?s contribution rises to $9.2 billion in 2002

The oil and gas sector contributed US$9.271 billion to the country?s revenue in 2002, or 12 percent higher than the $8.2246 billion target, BPMIGAS chairman Rachmat Sudibyo said Thursday.

Other achievements made by the country in its oil and gas sector last year included the signing of four liquefied natural gas (LPG) export contracts, and 10 contracts for domestic gas sales, Rachmat said in a parliamentary hearing.

Rachmat said his office was committed to increasing investments in oil and gas field development and production to $5.625 billion in 2003, from last year?s $5.143 billion. (godang)
