Oil giants sign oil and gas contracts

The companies and consortiums were named by the government early this month as winners of the regular tender for oil and gas blocks.
The consortiums include the consortium of French firm Total S.A and Japanese firm Inpex Corp, which signed the contract to develop the SE Mahakam block in East Kalimantan, the consortium of British firm Premier Oil Ltd and Japanese Mitsui Oil Exploration Co. Ltd, which signed the contract to develop the Tuna block in Natuna Sea and the consortium of state owned oil and gas company PT Pertamina and Norwegian firm Statoil ASA, which signed the contract to develop the Karama block offshore West Sulawesi.
They signed the contracts on Wednesday during a ceremony in Subang, West Java, where President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono also witnessed the signing of billons-dollar-worth contracts for dozens of energy projects across the country. (Godang)
