Eight international oil E&P companies are competing to get hold of a Makassar Strait deep-water block in the latest round of regular acreages offer, a Petromindo source said.

The source said that US firms ExxonMobil, ConocoPhillips, Marathon Oil Corp., Anadarko Petroleum, Anglo-Dutch giant Shell, Italy?s ENI SpA, Canada?s Talisman Energy and Malaysia?s Petronas are competing hard to get Pasang Kayu block offshore East Kalimantan.

?That?s one of the hottest blocks in this tender,? the source.

According to Petromindo.Com data, government offers oil and gas split of 35 percent and 40 percent, respectively, for investor and 80 percent of investment credit.

The government is offering 14 blocks in this year?s last round regular acreage bidding. Government is expected to make winners announcement sometime this month. (godang)
