Publicly listed oil company PT Medco Energi Internasional Tbk said its oil production from Langsa block offshore East Aceh and its Floating Production Storage & Offloading (FPSO) were unaffected by the tragic earthquake and tsunamis that struck Asia region earlier last week.

?Currently, the production (at Langsa) is still going on as usual,? MedcoEnergi said in a statement recently.

MedcoEnergi also said the FPSO, which contained with over than 200,000 barrels of oil produced from the block, is in good shape. The FPSO has a storing capacity of 230,000 barrels and a production capacity of 15,000 barrels per day.

Langsa block has potential hydrocarbon reserves, and estimated that its 1P oil reserves is 4.5 million barrels of oil (mmbo) and 2P oil reserves is 7.0 mmbo. The block is currently producing around 10,000 barrels of oil per day.

MedcoEnergi, in a 50: 50 joint arrangement with Mitsui Oil Exploration Co Ltd of Japan, acquired 70 percent working interest of Langsa block in December 2003. (Robert)
