Oil production of PT Pertamina EP Aset 5 Field Papua and Petrochina International Bermuda in Papua has seen a significant increase, exceeding the target previously set, due to technical improvements and a decrease of social disturbances.

Papua and Maluku representative office of the upstream oil and gas authority SKK Migas reported on Tuesday that oil production of PT Pertamina EP Aset 5 Field Papua since January until June this year has averaged at 1,156 barrels per day as compared to the target of 1,047 barrels per day set by the government.

It is expected that by the year end, the oil production of Petrochina International Bermuda will amount to 5.600 barrels per day, and even based on optimistic scenario it could reach up to 6,000 barrels per day.

SKK Migas? Papua and Maluku Representative office said that the production increase was not only due to technical improvements, but also due to hardworking of all stakeholders, which include local governments, local public figures and local people.

?We highly appreciate PT Pertamina EP Aset 5 Field Papua, Petrochina International Bermuda, local governments, and all other stakeholders who had managed to cooperate in increasing the oil production,?
