The monthly average oil and condensate production in January and February reached 963,269 barrels per day, or about 100.3 percent of the 960,000 bpd target set in the 2009 state budget, the ministry said in its website.
February production averaged 966,845 bpd, which was an increase of 6,807 bpd from the average output of 960,038 bpd in January. The higher production was mainly caused by an increase in or the return to normalcy of production at fields operated by a number of production sharing contractors(PSCs), including PetroChina Jabung, Pertamina EP and BP Tangguh.
PetroChina Jabung saw an increase in oil and condensate production by 4,168 bpd, from 14,900 bpd to 19,068 bpd. Its gas production returned to normal following the completion of the annual maintenance of the Betara gas plant.
Pertamina EP?s production rose by 694 bpd, from 116,934 bpd to 117,628 bpd. Production returned to normal after a hose leakage at the Pertalahan Natuna TAC lifting facility had been fixed.
Meanwhile, BP Tangguh started production at the Vorwatta tmt field at a rate of 604 bpd on January 28, 2009.
A number of other companies also reported higher production during the period, albeit relatively small.
As of March 16, 2009, the national oil production averaged 960,374 bpd, making the state budget's target of 960,000 bpd seen achievable for the month. (denny)
