Okirino eyes Bengkulu?s gold mine

PT Okirino Internusa, a Jakarta-based mining company, has expressed its keen interest to explore gold deposits in Bengkulu, a source at the Bengkulu provincial administration told Antara news agency.

Imron Rosyadi, the head of the economic department of the Bengkulu provincial administration, said that the company?s management would brief the local government?s officials about their investment plan on September 4 (today).

He said that the intention to develop the province?s gold mine was contained in a letter sent by the company?s president director Ruskan Herman. The company is at present engaged in tin mining activities in Bangka island.

Several regencies in Bengkulu including Rejang Lebong, North Bengkulu and South Bengkulu are known to have significant amount of gold reserves. (*)
