The 200-Megawatt (MW) Ombilin coal-fired power plant in Sawahlunto, West Sumatra, has stopped operation since Monday due to the earthquake which hit the area on Sunday, Media Indonesia reported on Friday.
The power plant?s general manager Luthfy Triheru said in Padang on Thursday that the two generators of the power plant had been unable to operate since the quake hit the area on Sunday.
?We are still investigating the problem. Perhaps, it was caused by the quake on Sunday,? he said. The halt in the operation of the power plant had further worsened the power supply condition in West Sumatra and surrounding areas, he said. (*)
