One killed in Freeport mining accident

One worker was killed on Saturday during a work accident at the copper and gold mine of PT Freeport Indonesia in Papua, according to a report.
Company spokesman Riza Pratama was quoted by Tempo as saying that the accident occurred at 0.30 p.m. local time at Mile Post 74 area. The worker was working at the concentrator area when he fell onto a conveyor belt and was then trapped inside.
?He died on the spot,? Riza said, while refusing to provide the identity of the worker.
Freeport has reported the accident to the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources and will investigate the causes of the accident. The body was taken to the Tembagapura hospital and will be delivered to the deceased?s relatives. (*)
