Raisama, the holder of 38.25 percent interest and operatorship in the South Block A on the northern part of Sumatra, said it would drill one well at the block next year following completion of a forthcoming seismic survey.

This well will be drilled in a defined petroleum fairway and is therefore relatively low risk, the company said in a filing.

It added that one candidate is the Amanah prospect, which has been assessed to have a most likely prospective resource in excess of 40 million barrels of oil from six potential reservoir zones on the structure.

Raisama recently acquired a 75 percent interest in RENCO Elang Energy Pte Ltd, which was previously the holder of 51 percent interest in the block.

This area is close to, and on trend with, very significant oil and gas production including the 15 TCF Arun LNG project and 300 mmbbl Rantau oil field.
